Marblehead residents gather for Charlie Kirk vigil
About 135 people gathered outside Abbot Hall on Sunday to honor Charlie Kirk, the conservative activist assassinated earlier this month in Utah. Organizers and residents denounced political violence, shared prayers and urged neighbors to bridge divides in Kirk’s memory

Trash strike ends; Marblehead collection begins again
Republic Services workers and Teamsters Local 25 have reached a five-year contract deal, ending the strike that began July 1. The Marblehead Health Department says curbside collection is back this week, with residents reminded to have bins out by 7 a.m. The transfer station and Swap Shop will also return to normal schedules
Fame sail brings Hannah’s revolutionary history to life
Passengers aboard the replica schooner Fame hoisted sails and heard stories of the Hannah, the first commissioned vessel of the Continental Navy, during a Marblehead REV250 sail. Historian Michael Rutstein recounted the ship’s dramatic 1775 chase with HMS Nautilus, tying Marblehead directly to America’s naval origins
$80K grant will help Marblehead cool public housing
An $80,000 grant from the Metropolitan Area Planning Council will fund “Resilient by Design,” a project to reduce heat at Farrell Court, Powderhouse, Green Street and Barnard Hawkes Court. Plans include planting trees, creating shaded gathering spots and turning housing sites into cooler, greener community hubs.
MLT's Andrew Barnett honored with Lifetime Achievement Award
Andrew L. Barnett has been recognized with the Distinguished Lifetime Achievement Award by the Eastern Massachusetts Association of Community Theatres. A fixture of Marblehead Little Theatre for more than 30 years, colleagues call him the “heart and soul of MLT” for his dedication to productions, youth programs and keeping the historic firehouse thriving.
